Hey everyone, welcome to today's Five Minute Leader.

I am waiting for my daughter to finish her chess class and thought I would record a quick video for all of you. Today's video is very simple, and it is about somebody who I've talked about and written about before—John Wooden. He was the coach of the UCLA men's basketball team. He was one of the greatest coaches out of any sport in history.

I think in total, he led them to 11 or 12 college championships, and I believe it was seven in a row or eight in a row. Somebody can fact-check me on that, but it was an amazing record. I don't think it's ever been beaten still to this point.

Now, John did a lot of really interesting things, and I don't want to get into all of the things that he did because I explore that in my book The Future Leader. I've done videos about it, but one of the things that I love that he did is this idea of basics.

Now, in today's world, I talk to a lot of executives, I work with a lot of executives and business leaders, and oftentimes they're creating these very complicated and complex strategies. They're trying to do strategic workforce planning for five, six years out. They're talking about using AI. They're talking about rethinking and redoing anything and everything.
