Hello, everyone, welcome to another five minute leader. Yes, I am still in Florida. Thank you for asking. This will be the last video that I do hopefully before I head out unless I get inspired by something else while I'm sitting downstairs in the hotel lobby. Today's video is about listening tours.
So I've been interviewing a lot of executives lately, a lot of CEOs and a lot of CHROs. And one of the questions that comes up a lot, even on my podcast, is a lot of leaders are talking about change that they're making. They're moving the organization in a certain direction, they're coming up with strategies, they're trying to determine values this and that. And I always ask them, Well, how do you figure out what you should be doing? And why? How do you know that that's the best course of action? How do you know that that's a problem that you need to solve? How do you know that that's an opportunity inside your organization to improve something.
And by far, the number one thing that I hear from every leader that I speak with, is listening tours. Now, if you're a CEO, or leading a large team or organization, this is of course, especially crucial, listening tours, this idea where you go around to different teams, different organizations, and you just talk to them, you ask them, What are your pain points? What are your challenges? What are your frustrations? What are some areas where you think we can do better where I can do better.
