Hello everyone. Welcome to today's Five-Minute Leader. Today's topic is about tough love—an uncomfortable topic, but I think a very important one for 2025 and beyond.

I was talking to a couple of CHROs recently, and they've been sharing very interesting stories with me. By the way, not just CHROs, but leaders in general. Stories of employees or candidates whose parents are calling if they don’t get a job; interns showing up dressed inappropriately; employees asking for things the company doesn’t offer—like pet insurance.

Time and time again, I’m hearing that a lot of these leaders are having to put their foot down. They’re having to take a “tough love” approach. And I think this is actually a good thing. It’s a very healthy thing to put on display.
